BEYOND YOUR CIRCLE

Step outside your circle and spend a few minutes with strangers you meet every day or at least every week.

UntitledStrangers??? Yeah, the guy at cash counter, the orderly at your work, the security guy, the lady who mops the floor..

As you pass by them the next time, STOP.

Spend 2 minutes for them.

Ask them how was their day.

Comment on the climate.

In all, acknowledge their presence.

And the next day, just a smile or nod will lift their spirits.

Do this to at least 2 people within the week.

ORGANISE TECH

Clean all the junk on your cell phones/ laptop/ tablet and organize your stuff.

Your device has been slugging for some time now. Yet you don’t have the time or energy to do the obvious de-cluttering.

This week, take time for it.

Disclaimer: Resetting phones should be done at own risk and no responsibility for lost data will be accepted here

Cheat codes:

  • If you can’t find spare time, try to squeeze it into travel time when you just ‘plug in your headphones and ignore the world’
  • If the whole thing can’t be done all at once, try a different folder each day ( maybe the ‘downloads’ folder? That can really speed up if it is in C:/ drive)
  • At least drag all the stuff from desktop to one folder. It is ugly to view a cluttered desktop ( well, it’s your call anyway)

GO AN EXTRA MILE

A little more than expected.

An errand? New duties assigned? Just the boring house work?

Add an extra to it.

  • Draw a quick smiley when you fetch a coffee ( your boss might not like it though)
  • Organize those paper works neatly before submission
  • Add French fries to tonight’s dinner
  • Personalize that birthday card for friend ( add a few words about how much he/she means to you)

BE EVAN BAXTER

Remember the movie ‘Evan Almighty’ aka ‘Noah’s Ark’?

Remember how Evan used to get up every morning and talk to the mirror?

evan

‘ I am successful. I am powerful. I am handsome. I am happy’

Yeah?

DO THAT.

For the next week let us be Evan.

Change it into your own words. Boost yourself every morning.

And, in case you know you will forget it in the half-asleep morning ritual, make a note. Stick it your mirror.

Just for one week let us try to be a self-motivating freak.

Cheat code for the note: In case you fear someone will notice that and laugh at you. Just draw a weird smiley and lots of animal faces around it. You will think of Evan and remember this post

KEEP IN TOUCH

Remember how we promised to keep in touch years back and……and?? Didn’t do it??

Well, if you have watched F.R.I.E.N.D.S series, you probably know how Monica did stuff.

Be organised.

52eac3b9397023ee4934ff54f0a6b435

Weird way to keep it touch but it works.

Text 5 people on your contact list each day. You could go by alphabetical order to avoid missing anyone.

Just say ‘Hi’ or ‘Good evening’ or ‘How are you’

Cheat codes:

  • Put up a good display pic (dp) on whatsapp before you begin. So you can hopefully escape the ‘Who are you’ replies
  • You may skip people to whom you really don’t want to talk to.
  • Go with a ‘Good evening’ if you really expect responses. People will be too tired to respond to ‘good night’ and too busy for ‘good morning’.
  • Send msgs when you have time to respond to replies. Else the challenge won’t end up to be fruitful as we want it to be.
  • You might need to send to more than 5 people to get some response 😛

P.S: Don’t stop within the week and don’t limit to just sms or whatsapp. Call up some friends. Rewind on memories. Keep going if it fits you.

Please respond how it went.

Keep in touch 😉

OUT OF PEER GROUP

And here is something that I am going to struggle with.

Go strike up a conversation with someone of at least 10 years age difference.

Do an younger and an elder person each.

Challenge not valid if the person is:

  • Close family
  • A person you already is close with (mere acquaintances are okay but friends? NO)

Talk for a good 5-10 minutes.

Listen to what they have to say. Really listen.

Even the kids have wise things to teach.

'Grandma, when you reach a certain age, do you get recycled or returned for deposit?'

Or if they don’t, you will at least experience ‘the generation gap’ stuff we hear a lot about. 😀

All the best for the new venture!!

Please respond in.

I am looking forward to your response.

And keep liking, commenting and sharing. Thanks for the support guys
